Our journey began with George Treadwell, a former Royal Marines Commando who served two active tours in Afghanistan. His military service, particularly in Afghanistan, shaped his values and determination, which he later carried into his passion for fishing and the creation of Commando Tackle.
During his tours in Afghanistan, George was part of a combat unit that was heavily involved in high-stakes operations, where attention to detail, precision, and quick thinking were essential for mission success. These experiences not only honed his skills in problem-solving under pressure but also instilled in him a deep understanding of the importance of reliable, high-performance equipment in extreme conditions.
Whether navigating harsh terrain or coordinating tactical missions, George’s military background reinforced his belief that the right tools could make the difference between success and failure. After leaving the Royal Marines in 2011, George continued his service in a different capacity by joining the fire service. Here, his love for fishing grew alongside his career, and he began working with top brands in the fishing industry, gaining invaluable experience. It was during his time in the fire service that he co-founded ClubCarp, a quarterly subscription service designed to enhance the experience of anglers by delivering high-quality tackle. However, George's military background and love for precision fishing tools led him to found Commando Tackle, focusing on creating gear specifically for anglers who demand nothing less than military-grade performance.
